What is Myopia Management?

Myopia is nearsightedness which causes blurry vision in the distance. It is related to the axial length of the eyeball. Moderate to higher amounts of myopia can increase the risk for eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and retinal detachments. There is ongoing research to determine which treatment tools effectively slow down the progression of nearsightedness and help to reduce the likelihood of vision threatening eye conditions.

Ortho-Keratology

Ortho-keratology is a treatment system which utilizes rigid lens retainer contact lenss that are worn overnight to reshape the cornea. This treatment is completely reversible with the discontinuation of the contact lenses.

Proper fitting and disinfection of the lenses minimizes the risk for infection.

The most common potential side effects of atropine are light sensitivity, pupil dilation, blurred near vision, and stinging upon instillation.
